Starting Anew

The title makes it seem like I am starting again but that’s not the plan. It also isn’t my intention to make it sound that way. I just like that title.

Soo what’s up? Well, I want to start to turn my life around. Or to be more specific I have some goals I want to hit which are (in no specific order):

-          Health Wise

o   Lose and keep off 30 pounds (I am 232lbs. right now).

o   I want to be able to run a 5K in under 25minutes.

o   I want to be able to bench 325 repetitively.

o   I want to be able to play Just Dance on hard mode and not be out of breath after the first minute.

o   I want to have standard sleep and wake times.

-          Work Wise

o   I want to finally finish this damned degree.

o   I want to participate in more activities at my current Job.

o   I want to gain more insight on how to do my current job better and put those insights to action.

o   I want to set myself up for an effective transition to my new career (two years from now).

-          Family Wise

o   I want to spend more of my down time interacting with my family.

o   I want to use this new found time to correct some of the potential issues I see arising in my kids.

o   I want to ensure that my family knows I love them and not in some abstract “He’s my husband/father of course he loves me” way, but in a definite yeah my hubby/dad definitely loves me and I know it way.

o   I want to leave a legacy behind like the grandfather I never met.

-          Personal Wise

o   I want to actually do my hobbies and not just think about doing them.

o   I want to publish this list and not just type it up, save it, and forget about it.

o   I want to continue to make posts and see where this takes me.

o   I want to write stories and possibly make audio recordings as well.

The interesting point in all of the stuff above is that my list was originally three things when I sat down to write this. But I wanted to be a little more specific and this list just happened while I was typing. Even with that fact stated, I think I can still break down most of these wants/goals into more Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely or SMART goals. Yeah I went there. The problem is I have known about this technique for years and have still yet to use it. So, I am starting today. With this post.

More to follow.

Day Two

My Day Whelp, I am not sure what it is that I am going to write today. I want to finish watching an anime that I started while my kid was in Taekwondo class. Then I will come back to this. So, what did I do today to continue to meet the goals I had? Not much really and that’s the issue at hand. Now I don’t want to mislead anybody into thinking I did nothing. What I mainly did today was try to change my thoughts in such a way as to maintain a positive trajectory towards my goals. What does that mean? Well, I have a habit of putting things off. You can see some of that habit at the beginning of this post. I wanted to finish watching a video instead of writing a blog post. Then once I finished watching the first video, I had to catch up on another series I was following but somehow managed to miss the last two videos of. Are any of those videos helping me reach my goals? Nope, not at all. I know this and I feel it, I really do, but this is a vice/issue that I am not willing to par...
